This Sunday, beginning at 5 PM, we’re doing something simple, different, and deeply meaningful—we’re going to read the entire Book of Numbers out loud together.
For many of us, Scripture is something we read quietly and individually. But for most of history, God’s Word was experienced in a different way: it was heard—together. There is something powerful about listening to Scripture as a community, letting the story unfold in real time, and allowing God’s Word to shape us as a people.
The Book of Numbers tells the story of God’s people on a journey—moving from Mount Sinai toward the Promised Land. It’s a story of formation, struggle, and faithfulness:
As we listen, we’ll hear both the beauty and the tension of that journey—and we may find our own story reflected in theirs.
We’ll move through the book in a steady rhythm:
Some sections will feel narrative and familiar. Others—like censuses or lists of names—may feel less familiar. That’s okay. Those parts are still part of the story of God forming His people, and we’ll keep moving with confidence and clarity.
Numbers includes a lot of names—and some of them are hard to pronounce!
We’ll provide a simple guide to help, but here’s what matters most:
This isn’t about performance—it’s about hearing God’s Word together.
We would love for you to be part of the reading—but this is a low-pressure invitation.
We’ll have natural breaks and multiple readers, so no one carries too much. Some sections are easier, some a bit more challenging, and we’ll help guide that as we go.
If you’ve never read Scripture out loud in a group like this before, that’s okay—this is a great place to try.
Reading a whole book of the Bible in one sitting helps us:
Numbers ultimately leaves us with a question:
Will we trust God where others have struggled to trust Him?
Come ready to listen, reflect, and be rooted in God’s Word in a way that might be new—and powerful.
Whether you read or simply receive, we believe this will be a meaningful time together as a church family.
